Civil Engineering

PSR Polytechnic College

Civil Engineering department was launched in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 and is manned by experienced faculty members. The infrastructure facilities in the department facilitate effective teaching-learning process. Sophisticated instruments are accessible in laboratories such as, microprocessor controlled UTM, Total Station, etc. Students are being exposed to latest advancements in construction technology and trained to overcome the practical difficulties. Civil Engineering plays a major role in the management of the environment. The department promotes the quality and value based education by creating awareness in the future trends in environmental restoration and management of the environment.

The Civil Engineering Department was started with the vision to keep pace with the advancing technologies in the field of Civil Engineering and to develop a sense of self-discipline, social responsibility, a co-operative and good work attitude, and play a commendable role in the prosperity of human civilization and protection of human civilization from extinction by contributing to better infrastructure development using the skills acquired during the years of learning.

Infrastructure:

The accommodate the following fully equipped laboratories.

  • Construction practice Lab

    • Building Construction: Building construction is the process of adding structure to real property. ... Residential construction practices, technologies, and resources must conform to local building authority regulations and codes of practice.
  • Material testing Lab

    • Materials testing is a well-established technique used to determine the physical and mechanical properties of raw materials and components of steel, composite materials and ceramics.
  • Hydraulics Lab

    • The Hydraulics Laboratory is a state-of-the art facility used to conduct a variety of experiments pertaining to water. Among other things, this laboratory provides a means of testing the hydraulic properties of submerged bridges and the hydraulic properties of highway drainage structures and stream crossings.
  • Survey Lab

    • Surveying takes the foremost place in planning, designing and execution of any kind of construction work. Moreover, knowledge in surveying plays a vital role in the professional practice of civil engineers and architects.
  • CAD Lab

    • Computer-aided design (CAD) is a computer technology that designs a product and documents the design's process. ... The concept of designing geometric shapes for objects is very similar to CAD. It is called computer-aided geometric design (CAGD). CAD is also known as computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).
